Drawing Berries with Watercolor

It's berry season! Enhance your painting and drawing skills by using watercolor and pencil to sketch berries in the Garden. Explore color mixing, shading, and composition. Learn watercolor techniques to expand your artistic abilities while observing high bush cranberry, currants, and bunchberry. Use the best of both worlds painting and sketching outdoors as well as in the Greenhouse. Great for beginners and experienced artists alike. Taught by local artist Betany Porter.
Part of this workshop will take place outside; please dress for the weather. Art supplies are included with the purchase of a kit and a chair will be provided but feel free to bring your own camping chair if you wish. Space is limited; you must register ahead of time. There is a $5 cancellation fee for all cancellations. No refunds for cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice.

Betany Porter received an MFA in Painting and Drawing from the Art Institute of Chicago, Post-Baccalaureate from the Oregon College of Art and Craft, and Teaching Credential from San Diego State University. She was a Contemporary Art Curator and Interdisciplinary Museum Educator at the Anchorage Museum, and Art Curator at the Alaska Botanical Garden. She has over twenty years in Art Education and over ten years Museum experience designing exhibitions, educational content, and public programs. In 2023 she was selected as a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award recipient and currently works as an Artist in Anchorage, AK.
