Volunteer

ABG started as a volunteer effort in 1983, & volunteers continue to be the backbone of the organization. They provide diverse perspectives, expertise, & experiences to assist in all aspects of ABG: horticulture & gardening, nursery & retail, special events, adult education & workshops, children’s education, research, & more. In turn, volunteers are able to work with experienced staff, connect with others in the community, & broaden their knowledge and skills.

New and Returning 2024 Volunteer Orientation

All new volunteers must attend one volunteer orientation session in order to be eligible for any volunteer opportunity. You'll learn how to log and track your hours, sign up for shifts, bear and wildlife safety in the Garden and meet ABG staff. Returning volunteers will only need to attend the first half of any of the volunteer orientations to learn about new opportunities as well as receive annual bear and wildlife safety training.

We welcome local businesses, youth groups, students, scouts, or clubs who want to come out as a group for a special project. Families are welcome to volunteer together; the youngest family member must be at least 7 years old. Volunteers younger than 16 are required to work alongside a parent or family member at least 18 years old.
