The Japanese art of Kokedama (koke "moss" and dama "ball") is the art of creating a hanging moss ball with a plant growing in it. They can be made with many types of house plants. As orchids are epiphytes (plants that grow on the surface of other plants or objects), they are ideally suited to this style of planting. In this fun, hands-on workshop, you will learn the art of creating your own Kokedama using a Phaleanopsis orchid. All supplies are included. This workshop will take place inside our Greenhouse. The Greenhouse can still be quite cool in the mornings so dress in layers.

Paul Marmora has been doing bonsai for 25 years, worked in flower shops for 45 years, and has kept orchids for 12 years. As president of the Cook Inlet Bonsai Study Group and co-president of the Wildflower Garden Club, Paul is excited to share his expertise and enthusiasm for the art of Kokedama with you!
