John Messick, author of Compass Lines: Journeys Toward Home

Join debut Alaska author John Messick for an outdoors literary jaunt at the Alaska Botanical Garden, occasioned by the launch of his gorgeous memoir-in-essays, Compass Lines: Journeys Toward Home. We’ll be outside for over an hour, traversing the Garden's half mile loop on our feet and around the world on the page as Messick discusses his book. Books will be available for sale and signing.

This event is open to the public under the Garden's Winter General Admission: $5/Adult, Free for Members and children 6 and under.

John Messick is a writer, teacher, husband, and father. His work has appeared in news outlets and literary journals, including Rock & Sling, Tampa Review, Nowhere Magazine, The Miami Herald, Anchorage Daily News, and more. John earned his MFA at the University of Alaska Fairbanks and has been awarded an AWP Intro Journals Prize in nonfiction and a Rasmuson Foundation Individual Artist Award. He teaches at Kenai Peninsula College in Soldotna. Compass Lines is his first book.
