Christine Smith

Christine Smith is a mosaic artist and painter who lives and works in Anchorage. Science and art have always been foundational in her life and her art. Smith’s early work in biological illustration expanded to more abstracted imagery, experimental painting styles and mosaics. Her recent mosaic work was included in the Anchorage Museum’s 2020 Biennial exhibition of contemporary Alaska art. 

Awards include: Art Acquisition Fund Grant, commissioned painting series “Aviator Animals”, Alaska Aviation Museum, May 2020; Art Acquisition Fund grant, painting, “Nome and Back Again”, Alaska Aviation Museum, 2019; State Percent for Art grant, collaborative mosaic, Sitka School District, 2001; Alaska State Council for the Arts Career Opportunity travel grant for study at Mosaic Art School, Ravenna, Italy, 2001.
