Music Together Mountain Song

Join us for a stroller-friendly musical tour of the garden for families with infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. We’ll sing, dance, and jam our way along the Garden’s half-mile paved loop.

Mud Day is a nationally recognized day to get messy and play in nature!
We’ll have toys & sand boxes, exploding mud art, and more mud-themed activities!

Susitna Sunrise Painted Pots
Friday, June 27th | 6:00 - 7:30pm
Come paint with us and take home a flower pot to adorn your porch or windowsill! Using a classic tan plate, participants will choose from a variety of scenes, Susitna Mountain scene, wildflowers, garden gnomes or mushrooms, to paint on a terracotta pot.

Tai Chi at the Garden
Saturday, June 28th | 10:30 - 11:30am
Join Tai Chi instructor, Richie Goldstein, for an hour-long Tai Chi class.
June 28th’s class will practice Sun style movements, with a focus on Arthritis and Fall Prevention.

Summer Storytime
Wednesday, July 9th | 11:30am - 12:30pm
July 9th’s story will be “Yukon Dan’s Animal Band” by Kaelan Paulson. Author, Kaelan Paulson, will be here to read the story to us! A copy of his book will also be for sale during the reading.

Perennials with Acrylic
Saturday, July 12th | 10:30am - 12:00pm
Learn how to paint perennials using Golden Fluid Acrylic paints on paper. Practice color mixing and matching, composition, value, and layering. Join other budding artists and painting enthusiasts to spend time in nature capturing the light and color of the Garden in full bloom.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga
Sunday, July 13, 20 and 27 | 2:00-3:00pm
This 60-minute yoga class forms a flowing sequence in coordination with the breath. This class includes asana (postures), breath work, and brief meditation after savasana to balance out our practice.

Foraging Etiquette and Unspoken Rules of Wild Plant Collection
Wednesday, July 30th | 6:00-7:30pm
Alaska Botanical Garden employee Katie Redmond will talk about some of the basics in foraging etiquette, covering some of the who, what, where, when, why, and how for identifying, and respectfully collecting some commonly foraged plants in the Anchorage area. Recipes and tools included!

The Garden is here to help you with all your field trip needs, whether you need us to come to you, or you wish to get away from the classroom and come to us! Repurpose Nursery Pots
We accept used pots in the following sizes:
Round: 1 gal. and 2 gal.
Square: 5.5”, 4”, and 3.5” (deep + regular)Clean pots in good condition can be dropped off with staff during open hours.
Pots left at ABG without staff awareness will be taken to the landfill.

Nationally Accredited Meconopsis Collection
Commonly referred to as Himalayan poppies, the genus Meconopsis is composed of fuzzy, flowering plants native to the Tibetan Plateau.
