Guided Gardening: A Learning CSA

We are horticulturists who love plants and growing food! The Guided Gardening CSA allows us to share the food we grow as well as our expertise and enthusiasm. Access to fresh, healthy food is a great concern in Alaska, and we want to do our part to increase community food security by helping you become a successful home gardener.

Join the 2024 Guided Gardening: A Learning CSA program!

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) is essentially a vegetable subscription. Members pay up front in the spring when growers are stocking up on seeds and supplies for the season, then receive a portion (or share) of the harvest each week during the growing season.

At the Alaska Botanical Garden, we’re gathering up our horticultural expertise to dig deeper into the CSA model. In addition to receiving a share of fresh produce all summer, you'll have the opportunity to take an active role in learning how the food on your table is grown, from seed to soup. Through seasonally relevant educational content, we will look at what's happening in the garden and work our way through the entire growing process: soil preparations, monitoring for pests, harvest considerations, and preserving the bounty are some of the topics we’ll highlight. CSA members will also have access to ABG horticulture staff and an educational library of gardening tutorials to set you up for success in your home garden.

Cost: $750 per share

Timeline: Educational content begins in March; Seeds and plant starts available in May; Harvest runs mid-June through early September

Guided Gardening CSA Benefits:

Any no-call no-shows will be automatically donated after the pick-up window closes.
